When Are Sloped Roofs Beneficial?

Roofs can be both sloped and flat. Most commonly, sloped roofs are seen on residential homes while flat roofs are typically seen on commercial buildings. But what is the main difference? When are sloped roofs seen as more beneficial?

Flat roofs, in reality, are not flat. They must have some degree of pitch for drainage. They also require a membrane to help keep out leaks if there is standing water present. Sloped roofs, on the other hand, do not require this membrane since they have a much steeper pitch.

Sloped roofs are generally seen as better for residential construction because, depending on the material used, they are less expensive than flat roofs. They also tend to last longer, making them a more desired choice for homeowners.
