How To Get Scammed By A Roofer
:

Some roofers go into the business and are artful at scamming customers. Not that you are going to get scammed, but the threat of con-artist roofers is looming, and it is important to be aware of their methods. Roofing projects are expensive and time consuming, and you want to get what you are paying for. Here are a few common scam techniques used by roofers so you can take precaution and make sure you are working with a quality roofer.

Some roofers will not properly repair your roof when you are purchasing a repair. If there is a problem with the decking or something under your shingles, a scammer will cover up the problem. Working this way takes less time, but will leave you with a big mess months down the road.

In other cases, a scammer will perform work that is not necessary to charge you extra. This one is hard to spot, but make sure to press your roofer and ask questions to see if you can get a thorough explanation.

Finally, a roofer may pop up after a storm looking for work, but may not be licensed and does not have experience. Look for their business on BBB to see their reviews and information about their business. In all of these cases, make sure to ask a prospective roofer plenty of questions and look up their reviews online to get a good idea of who you are dealing with.
